Everyone knows it is important to love yourself and recognize your worth, but how do you learn to do it when you don’t actually believe you are valuable?
Amanda answers this exact question in her debut book, Embody Your Worth: Essential Strategies to Live Confidently and Create Your Dream Life.
During the first half of her life, Amanda hated herself. She could not see the beauty others saw in her. She believed she was defective, and she couldn’t imagine a life filled with joy or peace. But after reaching her lowest low, Amanda set out to discover the worthiness that she could so easily point out in others.
Today, Amanda knows her worth, and she owns it in every move she makes.
She lives a life filled with love, laughter, and peace even after losing her son in 2020. She experiences life in a way she never imagined possible.
Now she is here to teach you how to discover and own your worth.
In this experiential book, Amanda outlines the most valuable strategies she has learned over the past twenty-five years throughout her healing journey and her career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. As you practice and implement these tools, you will transform the way you experience yourself which will lead you to creating your own dream life.
In Embody Your Worth, you will learn to:
· Extend compassion to yourself
· Understand your survival strategies
· Own your strengths
· Repattern your self-talk
· Stand up for yourself
· Build healthy relationships
· Empower yourself through your choices
The Creation of the Book
In May of 2020, Amanda and her husband lost their three-month-old son to a rare genetic abnormality. While Amanda felt devastated by the loss, she instinctively knew that she was going to be ok.
As Amanda reflected on the journey of her life, having once experienced a debilitating depression from feeling completely worthless and hopeless, she began to wonder: "How did I get to a place in life where I feel this secure that I am and will be ok?"
The answer: She discovered her worth.
From here, the book came into creation. Amanda sat down and outlined all the lessons she learned over the last twenty-five years and then compiled the outline of the book.
About Amanda
Amanda Wallingsford is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, Life Transformation Coach, and author of Embody Your Worth: Essential Strategies to Live Confidently and Create Your Dream Life. She currently lives outside of Austin, Texas with her husband, stepdaughter, two dogs and tortoise.
Amanda has been in the social service and mental health field since 1999. She knew she wanted to help others since she was twelve years old, so she began her journey at Vanderbilt University to study Human and Organizational Development. After college, she went directly into case management at a nonprofit in Chula Vista, California. She eventually made her way back to school and earned her Masters in Counseling in 2006, beginning her career as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her licensure in 2012, and proceeded to add Program Director, Clinical Supervisor, and business owner.
Currently, Amanda continues to provide both psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and business coaching for wellness professionals. Amanda's long-term dream is to run a healing retreat center with her husband and create a free mentorship coaching program for marginalized young adults.
Amanda Wallingsford has provided readers with foundational theoretical underpinnings to
explore one’s self worth. In addition, she shares from her own personal life with authenticity
and vulnerability. Her applied practice in the field of counseling gives her rich examples for the
reader to relate to in their own lives. The reflection questions and activities are thought
provoking and should prove insightful to the reader. I feel this book will help many in their
personal life journey and make way for the embracing of one’s self-worth and life dreams.
